Look book : Trip to Lansdowne!

You guys must be knowing that I went to Lansdowne from my post on how to pack like a pro!. Coming back to the point of smart packer, here’s the detail of what all I packed for short trip to Lansdowne. Hope you enjoy this look book:

Clothes: I kept few basics which can be mix and matched to bring out multiple variations. My favorite travel items are lightweight wrinkle-free blouses. As per me they are travel friendly, super comfy, very light, fast drying and takes small space while packing. Now a days Jeggings are in trend and one must have at least two of them (in dark and light shades). They are super comfortable, stretchable as compared to jeans. I also packed palazzos. A small tip here: always plan your look beforehand, it saves so much time and space. I have finalized three looks and packed accordingly.

Footwear: I have kept three:  Sport shoes, flip flop and  nude shade belly.

Jewelry: When it comes to jewelry I kept it pretty simple. I am fond of watches so I have kept three watches. They go with any type of look and making it classy, simple and elegant. One basic bracelet, a pair of earrings.

Makeup: Kept two shades of lipstick, Fitme Foundation, Maybelline eye shadow palette, eyeliner, mascara and my favorite perfume.

Other Essentials: Wet wipes, pair of sunglasses, sunscreen etc.

Look No. 1: Lansdowne is a bit hot during the day time so I wore this cute white spaghetti top with black palazzo and carried an orange sling bag (to pep up the look).

Trip to Lansdowne “Home of Veer Garhwalis”

trip to Lansdowne

Lansdowne is a small cantonment town in Pauri  Garhwal district. It is approximately 280 kms from Delhi. Nearest railway station is Kotdwar. Lansdowne is 40 kms from Kotdwar on Pauri Road. This place is an ideal travel destination for a lazy weekend holiday. It is one of the most popular weekend getaway from Delhi NCR region.

Welcome-to-Lansdowne It was my first time that I have visited Lansdowne and believe me I was more than happy to be there. We took a friend’s car and drove down from Delhi – Meerut – Bijnor – Kotdwar – Lansdowne.

We stayed at Sunset Villa Lansdowne and hospitality provided to us made our stay comfortable. Here are the pictures:

Weather was cold in the morning and night but it was pretty hot in the daytime, it didn’t let us miss Delhi 😉 . As it’s a hill station so you don’t have many places to explore but it does have certain places which you don’t mind checking out. If you are looking for less crowded, serene natural beauty then it is the place for you otherwise you can go ahead and roam around regular hill stations.

Places to see in Lansdowne:

  • Bhulla Taal: This lake is a perfect picnic spot for children & families. We did boating in lake and had  breakfast at Cafe shop. There’s a small bridge over lake which is perfect for photo shoot. I liked this place.

  • St. Mary’s Church: It’s a small museum showcasing old pictures and stories of the pre-independance era.

  • Tip n Top: It is famous as a view point spot and you can have breathtakingly awesome view of hills and valley. The sunset view from here is truly memorable. It is an ideal place to spend some quality time with family and friends amidst this beautiful location.

  • Lansdowne Trip Cafe: Amazing place based on an equally amazing concept where you can read travel journals, find wonderful souvenirs and antiques to carry back home, enjoy nature at its best. I tried tea and Sandwich, they were simply amazing.

  • Durga Devi Temple: This temple is located inside a cave and is dedicated to goddess Durga and is considered to be one of the oldest Sidh Peeths.

Why you should visit Lansdowne:
  1. One of the closest hill station from Delhi NCR region and a perfect weekend Gateway.
  2. Much clean and well maintained Because of cantonment area of Garhwal rifles.
  3. Quiet, less crowded, not over developed and relatively undiscovered hill station.
  4. Have many old building of british colonial architecture and military history.
  5. Perfect place to meditate and rejuvenate your soul.

How to Pack Like a Pro!

Me and my friends decided to visit Lansdowne this weekend.  I have already heard about this beautiful place through a common friend so I was all excited about Lansdowne. So finally we decided to start from Noida on Friday night. We had only 2 days in our hand to visit this beautiful place and we were 4 who are going to travel together in one car. This condition calls for a smart packing wherein you are not allowed to carry too much luggage. It’s a short trip for us and I have to pack as per the duration of the trip.

Following are the points which you should keep in mind before packing for any trip.

  • Choose Suitcase/Travel bag First: Before you start to think about packing, choose the right suitcase/Bag. Check the size of the suitcase; no one wants to carry a suitcase that is too big for them which they can’t manage. Think about your destination and what kind of trips it is (business trip or Family vacation). You should also consider duration of your trip before packing.

  • What to Pack: A great way to save space in your bag is to choose wardrobe basics that you can mix and match. Think about what you will be doing on your trip and where you will spend most of your time. You can pick basic clothes and play around them using different accessories.

  • Rolling: Rolling method works well for all the clothes and it also saves a lot of space in your bag.

  • Bottom First: Pack Larger items first and keep heavy items at the bottom. Like start with your shoes first and then keep your clothes on top of it.

  • Lighter Stuff at the End: Keep Lighter clothes, accessories and smaller items at the end. Try and keep these stuff on the upper side of the suitcase/Bag. This trick will help in preventing crease and breakage.

Some important points to consider:
1. Try to keep fruits for snacking in place of chips or other junk, this way you can control your calories.
2.  For Makeup, you can keep a multipurpose palette like Maybelline’s Nude palette. You can use your eye shadows for contouring and highlighting or else your tinted lip balm can also work as a eye shadow and blush.  Miniatures or free samples can come to your rescue here, small sachets or perfume testers can save lot of space.
3. Try and keep you toiletries and makeup in separate pouch so that if there’s a spill out it won’t damage your rest of the product. You can also wrap your bottled products in plastic sheets.
4.  Limit your Footwear to three. Keep two in your bag and wear the third one while travelling (Pair of chappal or flip-flop, sports shoes and Belly or sandals).
5. You can carry a tote bag while travelling. As they make your travel supper easy. They have so much of space so you can keep as much as you want to. You can also keep one to two small clutches which you can use if you go out. Or you can pair them as per your choice.

Hope this blog helps you in packing for your next trip. Do let me know if you have some interesting  tips which I can also use while travelling or packing for the trip.
